Former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo is excited to have landed his first silverware at club level after Shanghai Shenhua defeated Shandong Luneng 3-0 at the Hongkou Football Stadium on Friday to win the Chinese FA Cup title.
Ighalo and his teammates ended the season on a high after overturning a 1-0 deficit from the first leg to win 3-1 on aggregate against Shandong Luneng.
The Nigeria international started the game from the bench and came in for Kim Shin-Wook seven minutes after the South-Korean attacker had opened the scoring for Shanghai Shenuhua on the hour mark.
Stephane El Shaarawy added the second goal in the 81st minute while Gabonese midfielder Alexander N’Doumbou made it 3-0 seven minutes from time as the flower of Shanghai won the trophy for the fifth time.
Ighalo, however, took to social media to express his gratitude after ending the year on a high.
“It ended in praise 🙏🏾,” he tweeted after the game.
The former Nigeria international scored ten goals in 17 league appearances for Shanghai Shenhua in the just-concluded season.
