It will be difficult for a Nigerian to win CAF POTY, says Ijeh

Former Super Eagles player Peter Ijeh has said it will take time for Nigerian players to climb the ladder of becoming the African footballer of the year.

Ijeh in a chat with www.brila.net says the class of the present crop of Nigeria players has not attained that height yet.

”In this generation, it is paramount and very difficult to compare this player’s with the class of players Liverpool, Manchester United, Liverpool or Arsenal, Iwobi is there in Arsenal but not up to the standards, we still need to go back in harnessing of talents development for us to reach that mark ” Ijeh said.
Overtime Nigeria has seen great players that have done the country proud by winning the continent best players award… Rashidi Yekeni, Emmanuel Amunike, Victor Nosa Ikpeba, and Kanu Nwankwo.
Since then Nigeria has had the likes of Okocha who was nominated on three occasions but could not win, and also John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses both face the same nomination process but lost it to Yaya Toure and Mohamed Salah.
