Italian referee Giovanni Ayroldi has been criticized for disallowing Cyriel Dessers goal against Juventus on Wednesday.
Dessers had the ball inside the net in the first half of the game, before the referee blew for an infringement in the build up.
Dessers couldn’t believe his eyes and ears, even some Juventus players appeared surprised by the decision of the official.
After the final whistle, Cremonese’ coaches confronted the official for further explainations on why the goal was ruled out.
Italian sports tabloids CalcioNews24 and Corriere della Sera both criticized the decision Ayroldi.
Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport also believes the referee’s decision changed the reflection of the game and allowed Juventus to pick all available three points.
Massimiliano Alvini, coach of Cremonese, spoke to Dazn after the defeat, and insists the result is unfair.
“I think it’s an unfair result and it doesn’t give credit to the team’s performance. Honor to Juve who won but I can’t say anything else,
“We needed points and in the end we are penalized because the team put in an important and extraordinary performance. I saw a team that played a great game against Juve.” He concluded.
