Alex Iwobi is expected to be out for around three weeks, his club Everton FC confirmed.

The striker suffered ankle ligament injury sustained during the FA Cup third round match against Manchester United on Friday.

Iwobi was taken off on a stretcher early in the second half at Old Trafford, after a heavy challenge from Tyrell Malacia.

The midfielder had a scan on Saturday and it was confirmed that he had suffered lateral ligament injury that will be managed conservatively by the Club’s medical team at Finch Farm.

Iwobi has been Everton’s shining star in what has been a turbulent campaign, making 20 appearances in all competitions and recording one goal and seven assists.

He’ll miss at least six matches for the Toffees.
