Nigeria’s table tennis star Aruna Quadri slipped to 23rd in the world according to November ranking of International Table Tennis Federation released on Thursday.
Quadri who is the ITTF African champions was formerly ranked 21st in the world but poor performance at the 2018 ITTF World Cup in France, where he failed to get past the first round cost him dearly as he dropped two places in the world ranking, although he remains number one in Africa.
Quadri who narrowly missed out in the main draw of the Swedish Open after two preliminary wins will be hoping for a good outing at next week’s Austrian Open which is the last ITTF World Tour for the year.
Meanwhile, Egyptian Omar Assar who just make a return to to the game slipped from 39 in the world to 53rd place in the November ranking.
Assar stayed second in Africa, while his fellow Egyptians Mohammed El-Beiali and Ahmed Saleh are third and fourth best ranked Africans respectively and Nigeria’s Olajide Omotayo complete the top five.
