Iwobi continues impressive goalscoring record against Wolverhampton Wanderers

Alex Iwobi scored his first Premier League goal for Everton against Wolverhampton Wanderers, in Monday night’s Premier League game.

After starting the 5-2 defeat to Watford from the bench, Iwobi was handed a place in the starting eleven and the Nigerian managed to net Everton’s only goal of the game.

However, it wasn’t enough to earn them a point as Wolverhampton secured hard fought 2-1 win in front of their fans.

The last time Iwobi scored was on August 24, in a 2-1 win at Huddersfield in the Carabao Cup.

It was his first goal in 24 Premier League appearances, with his previous strike coming in this exact fixture at Wolves in January last season.

Iwobi has netted three times versus Wolves in the Premier League, more than against any other opponent.

Wolves took the lead in the 27th minute through Max Kilman who headed down and into the far corner.

Wolves doubled their lead in the 32nd minute, when Raul Jimenez took advantage of poor back pass from Ben Godfrey to fire past Jordan Pickford.

Iwobi halfed the deficit on the 66th minute, before he was substituted in the 78th minute and was replaced by Anthony Gordon.

The win saw Wolves climb to seventh on 16 points while Everton occupy 10th on 14 points.
