Iwobi dazzles in Everton’s win over former club Arsenal

Alex Iwobi helped Everton moved up to second in the Premier League after hard fought 2-1 victory over his former club Arsenal at Goodison Park on Saturday.

Iwobi started the game, but was substituted with seven minutes remaining in the game.

The former Arsenal forward started from his new wing back role and caused the Mikel Arteta’s men all sort of problems down right with his pace and energy.

Everton took the lead in the 22nd minutes when Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s flicked header from Alex Iwobi’s cross deflected off Gunners captain Rob Holding and into his own net.

The visitors levelled some minutes later with Nicolas Pepe’s penalty after Tom Davies’ foul on Ainsley Maitland-Niles (35).

Everton regained their lead on the stroke of half time when Yerry Mina ran past Bukayo Saka in near-post and head home a Gylfi Sigurdsson corner.

“+3Nice To See Old TeamMates We Moveee 🤟🏽🍬” Iwobi wrote on Twitter after the game.

The win moved the Toffees to second with 26 points, while the Gunners dropped to 15th with 14 points from 14 matches.
