Jamilu Collins solid Against Schalke 04, but Paderborn Remain Bottom of Bundesliga Table

SC Paderborn 07 showed the kind of fight needed to battle to safety in this uncertain season in the German Bundesliga as the relegation threatened side forced Schalke 04 to a 1-1 result on Saturday at the VELTINS-Arena.

Jamilu Collins featured for the entire duration, returning to the starting XI after he served a one-match suspension from a Refereeing decision.

Collins making his 18th league appearance this season with his side rock bottom in the league.

Schalke 04 took the lead through Ahmed Kutucu in the 63rd minute after a cagey first first-half.

Paderborn took the fight to their hosts in the first half, pelting the opposition’s goal, but lacked the cutting edge in the attacking third.

Though they yielded the possession, they had more attempts at goal, but only managed one on target.

In the second-half, the hosts turned up the heat and registered 13 attempts on goal, and one hit the back of the net to break the deadlock.

With nine minutes before regulation time, the visitors struck through Klaus Gjasuta to store parity.

Eventually, the side would settle for a share of the spoils, but it did Steffen Baumgart’s men very little good as they remain rooted bottom of the league.

The Nigerian though was one of the best players on the pitch, putting in a good shift.

He played his defensive role astutely, attempting two tackles and two successful interceptions.

Collins also had three clearances and two blocks, including two attempts on goal.

According to Whoscored.com, the Left-back earned a 6.8 rating, the third best form by a Paderborn player.
