Japanese citizens call for cancelation of Tokyo Olympics

More than 80 percent of the citizens of Japan are calling for the cancelation of the Olympics this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

 

Thousands of Japanese reportedly took to the street to protest against the to stage the game when the country is battling with the dreaded viral which has ravaged the country.

 

The protesters on Monday insisted that the country’s health care sector already have their hands full managing the virus and believed allowing more people into the country will complicate things.

 

Aside from the protest, results of a survey conducted also saw over 80 percent voting against allowing the game to hold, while others suggested it should be postponed again.

 

The Tokyo game is less than 10 weeks away and thousands of athletes are expected to participate, while hundreds of journalists and officials are also expected to arrive at the venue.

 

Meanwhile, Japan expanded a coronavirus state of emergency on Friday as the nation battles the fourth wave of infections.
