Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool to sign Ousmane Dembele in January

Jurgen Klopp is ready to spend a club-record £85m on bringing Ousmane Dembele to Liverpool FC from FC Barcelona in the January transfer window, according to reports in the British media.

The Sun is reporting that the Reds boss is keen to bolster his attacking line-up in the new year and has identified the FC Barcelona man as his prime target.

According to the same report, Klopp is ready to break Liverpool FC’s transfer record for the second time in a year, after the Reds splashed £75m on signing Virgil van Dijk from Southampton back in January.

Klopp is said to be a long-term admirer of the 21-year-old France international and the Reds are reported to be lining up a big-money bid to try and tempt him to Anfield in the new year.

Dembele, who signed for the Spanish club from Borussia Dortmund in August 2017, has scored four goals and made one assist in 11 La Liga games for FC Barcelona so far this season – but he has only started seven of those matches.

Liverpool FC could well be on the lookout for some significant reinforcements in the January transfer window as Klopp looks to add to his squad to try and help the Reds to challenge for the Premier League title.

The Merseyside outfit are unbeaten in the Premier League after 12 games and currently sit in second place in the top-flight table, two points behind last season’s champions Manchester City.

They will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Watford away from home on 24 November.
