Lewandowski is the biggest Polish star, but I’ll stroll into the team – Olisadebe

Robert Lewandowski might be the hottest Polish player around Today, but 2002 World Cup star Emmanuel Olisadebe says he could have strolled into the current team nonetheless.

Lewandowski is the most capped Poland international, the team’s record goal scorer and one of the most lethal Marksman in the game.

In a chat with www.brila.net Olisadebe admits Lewandowski is currently alone at the peak, but believes there’s also room for an in-form player, and in his day could be that player.

“I believe I would have made this team with Lewandowski. Back then we had great players too and one in particular, Maciej Żurawski, but I still got in,” the former Polonia Warsaw Forward stressed.

He recalled his time with the national team at the World Cup in 2002 and the four years with The White and Reds.

“After we qualified for the world cup I started noticing things, then our campaign went awry.

“We were minnows, a small team at the time and some of the players were glory hunting rather than play for the team. We had a poor world cup and the Coach was sacked, it was at that point I made up my mind to also leave.”
