Liberia’s head Peter Butler said he’s proud of his players, despite suffering a 2-0 defeat against Nigeria on Saturday.
Napoli striker opened the scoring for Nigeria from penalty spot on the 19th minute, before substitute Ahmed Musa converted another late penalty to put the game beyond Liberia.
Despite failing to hit the target, The Lone Stars had good moments on the ball and showed what their capable of doing against the star-studded Nigerians.
“Over 90 minutes I thought we gave a good account of ourselves,we played some good football. We are in a rebuilding process and this team will improve in time. “He said in post match conference.
“I’m proud of the effort of my players, what I ask for they gave me, couple of mistakes but it is what it is, I’m not going to make excuses.“
Butler added that Liberia lacks the resources and players to compete against Nigeria and other top teams in Africa.
“We don’t have the finance of teams like Nigeria, Senegal etc and also we don’t have the players to compete with them.
