Nigeria’s table tennis player says Offiong Edem is happy with her performance at Olympics, despite exiting the game in the second round.
Edem suffered a 1-4 defeat to America’s Lily Zhang in a second-round match of the Women’s singles at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on Monday.
The defeat brought her journey in the games to an end after winning just one victory.
In a post made on her official Instagram handle, Edem said she gave everything, but she wasn’t a match for the Chinese-born American opponent.
She later expressed gratitude to the teaming fans and coaches for their overwhelming support all through the match.
“She was too good for me to handle its a privilege playing against world no: 30. But that notwithstanding I did my very best. I’m very satisfied with my performance. Dear fans friends and loved ones, I just feel moved to write this, because thanks” doesn’t feel like enough to me.”
“If I could hug each and every one of you, I would. I would like to thank all of you who have fanned me or have spread my name around I really do appreciate that. Also, thank you to those fans who have really given me so much great ideas on and off the table. ” she wrote.
