The League Management Company has slammed a match ban on Jigawa Golden Star Gilbert Opana for improper conduct.
Opana was handed the penalty for criticizing Referees in a post-match conference after his side’s defeat to Kwara United last weekend.
Following the outburst, the Jigawa GS Coach has now been ordered to stay away from two league matches and asked to pay a fine N250,000.
”Opana’s conduct amounted to a breach of rule B6.27 (participating in post-match press conference), paragraph 7 of Appendix B: Code of Conduct for Managers & Coaches (public criticism of officials and failure to co-operate with officials involved in the game)and C1.1 (misconduct) of the Framework and Rules,” LMC said in a statement.
The under fire gaffer is now expected to stay away from touch line duty from match day seven.
