Lobi Stars of Makurdi defeated Rangers International of Enugu 1:0 to be crowned the 2018 Nigeria Football Federation Super Cup Champions at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Tuesday.
It was the battle for second title of the year for both teams, as already shared the two major trophies in the country.
Lobi settled into the game quickly but struggled to create any dangerous situation for the solid Ranger defense .
The first 45 minutes was without a spark untill Lobi Stars forward Samad Kadiri capitalised on an error by Rangers captain, Okey Odita to score the only goal of the game in the first half addition time.
The Makurdi based team almost doubled their lead in 67th minutes when a corner kick by Solomon Kwambe was headed on target by Tony Agbaji before Rangers cleared it off the goal line.
Rangers were reduced to ten men as Solomon Okpako was given his matching order after a rough challenge on Lobi stars latest arrival Sikiru Alimi in the 81st minutes.
Lobi Stars will be representing the country in the CAF Champions League, while Rangers will be playing in the CAF Confederations Cup in coming season.
