Mohamed Salah has brought an end to months of speculation about his future by signing a new two-year contract with Liverpool, pledging his commitment to the club until 2027.
The 32-year-old Egyptian forward, whose previous deal was due to expire this summer, had sparked exit rumors after cryptic interviews and reported interest from Saudi Arabia.
But Salah has now nailed his colors to the Anfield mast once again — a crucial early win for new head coach Arne Slot.
“Of course I’m very excited,” Salah said in a statement released by the club.
“We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.”
No Pay Cut, No Drama

Liverpool’s new sporting director, Richard Hughes, played a pivotal role in negotiations with Salah’s long-time agent, Ramy Abbas Issa.
Despite reports that Salah had agreed to a reduced wage to stay, club sources confirmed that a pay cut was never on the table.
“I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together,” Salah said.
“Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies.”
A Living Legend at Anfield
Since joining from Roma in 2017, Salah has delivered a dazzling era of success and consistency at Liverpool.
With 32 goals in 45 appearances this season — including 27 in the Premier League — he remains the club’s most dangerous weapon.
He recently overtook Billy Liddell to become third on Liverpool’s all-time goalscoring chart, and is just 15 goals behind second-place Roger Hunt.
“I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10,” Salah said.
“I had the best years in my career [at Liverpool].”
What Next for Liverpool’s Contract Puzzle?
Salah becomes the first of three high-profile Liverpool stars to renew his contract, with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold yet to make decisions on their futures.
However, Van Dijk provided a hint of optimism last week:
“There’s progress,” the captain said regarding his ongoing negotiations.
A Symbol for the Slot Era
As Arne Slot prepares to officially take over from Jurgen Klopp this summer, Salah’s renewal provides instant credibility and momentum for the Dutchman’s reign.
The Egyptian’s belief in the project suggests that Liverpool are not rebuilding—they’re reloading.
With Salah staying put and Van Dijk likely to follow, Liverpool’s message to Europe is loud and clear: the Reds are not done winning.
From Basel to Roma to Anfield royalty — Mohamed Salah’s legacy continues. And the best may be yet to come.
