Lucy Ejike, Ezuruike continue Nigeria’s Dominance at 2018 Africa Para Powerlifting Championships

Ahead of the 2018 Africa Para Powerlifting Championships in Algiers, Head Coach of the Nigeria Powerlifting team, Are Feyisetan set a target of 7 gold medals and after day one, it looks like his lifters will come good.

Nigerian Power lifters have, so far, picked five gold medals at the championships, with Team Captain, Lucy Ejike winning gold in the 61kg class on Day Two.

 


2018 Commonwealth gold medallist, Roland Ezuruike won gold in the 54kg class on Friday to exert his dominance in the category.

 

Meanwhile, Adesokan Yakubu also picked gold in the men’s 49kg class.

 

In the women’s category, Three times Commonwealth Champion, Esther Oyema dominated in the 55kg to add to Nigeria’s goal medal haul.

Also, Latifat Tijani won gold medal in the women’s 45kg class, defeating home girl, Samira Guerioua.

 

Hostilities continue in Day 2 [Saturday, August 11] of the competition which serves as qualification for the 2020 Paralympic Games.
