Super Eagles shot-stopper Maduka Okoye recorded his first clean sheet of the season in the Dutch Eredivisie as his Club Sparta Rotterdam beat Willem II 3-0 on Saturday.
Okoye and his teammates have endured a bad start to the campaign — losing 6, drawing 4 and winning 1 from previous 11 games.
They also failed to keep a clean sheet in any of the 12 matches, conceding 19 and scored 9 in return.
However, Spata Rotherham put the negative start behind and went into the clash at the Koning Willem II Stadion with good mentality.
Two goals in two minutes from Bart Vriend put Sparta Rotterdam in good control of the match, before Nigeria-born youngster Emmanuel Emegha scored the final goal in the second half.
The win ended Sparta Rotterdam’s poor run of seven consecutive league games without victory (four defeats, three draws).
The Henk Fraser’s men last won a league match back in September 12 when they beat Fortuna Sittard 3-1.
The win also lifted them out of the relegation zone to 15th. That have now picked 10 points from 12 matches this season.
