Maduka Okoye’s debut ends in Cup defeat, Elimination

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was handed his debut by Watford’s coach Rob Edwards in League Cup tie with MK Dons on Tuesday.

It was however a debut to forget for the Nigerian shot-stopper as the Hornets crashed out of the Cup following a 2-0 home loss to Milton Keynes Dons.

Okoye was beaten for the first time in the 45th minute through Matthew Dennis.

The 20-year-old turned fired home a cross from Darragh Burns, with Okoye rooted to his goal.

MK Dons got their second after Burns’ 25-yard shot found its way into the back of the net in the 54th minute.

Meanwhile, his national teammate William Troost-Ekong also featured in the tie, while Samuel Kalu was missing due to injury.
