Maikaba not under pressure to prove himself against Plateau United

Coach Abdul Maikaba dismissed suggestion that he is desperate to prove a point against his former Plateau United.

Maikaba will lead his Rangers side out against the Peace Boys in the main event of the NPFL week 10 match day.

Recalled Maikaba spent two great seasons with Plateau, after leaving Akwa United, and was unable to deliver the league titles to the Club faithfuls.

Following the disappointment, the Aiteo winner swapped Jos for Enugu, and he will be facing his former side for the first time, since leaving them.

“I have coached about five clubs in the past and definitely, I have to meet my former club at a time. Once I meet my former club, what I do as a coach is to use the knowledge I have about the club to my advantage and make sure we get the maximum points.

Though football is not Mathematics, our hope is to come up on top because we really need to change our position positively after the match against Plateau United.”

Maikaba’s side drew their last two game, but Maikaba is banking on Christian Nnaji and Ikechukwu Eboko, Kenechukwu Agu, Ejike Uzoenyi, Shedrack Asiegbu, and Samuel Pam to get him his first win in three games.

“Like in every other game, our target is to win and get the three points at stake. It is still in our memory that we lost two points in our last home game and I believe we would not have been where we are on the log. We will use the opportunity to our best advantage and see that we get the three points to make changes to our position on the log.” He said.
