Maikaba positive on Rangers title challenge ahead Niger Tornadoes clash

Rangers will take on Niger Tornadoes in Kaduna the final game of the NPFL week 22 fixtures and despite his team’s slow start to the second stanza, head Coach Abdullahi Maikaba believes there’s much to be hopeful for.

Rangers have picked just four points from available twelve since the start of the second stanza of the league season and failure to pick a win against Tornadoes could see them slip from their current position on the table.

However playing Niger Tornadoes in their adopted home ground of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, could be a lifeline for the Flying Antelopes.

Rangers won the first meeting 4-0 and coach Maikaba still has all the ‘Foot Soldiers’ that helped him achieve that feat and will likely be unleashing the ‘Victory Hungry’ players on the coach Bala Mohammed tutored side.

“Like I have said in most sessions with the media, no two matches are the same. We may have lost some vital points since the start of the second round but we are prepared to cover lost ground and I am positive of getting a good result in the fixture against Niger Tornadoes. They started the second round on a high and that is a positive for them and we are not letting that fact slip,” Maikaba said.

Meanwhile, ten points separates both teams as the visitors occupy the 3rd position on the log on 38 points, while the host placed are placed 13th with 28 points.
