Coach Abdul Maikaba has explained reasons behind Rangers International of Enugu incredible defensive transformation in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The Flying Antelopes are not just among best three teams in the league at the moment, they have better defensive records than other 19 teams this season.
In 18 matches, Rangers let in just seven goals and scored 20 times at the other end of the pitch .
The closest to them, in terms of goals conceded are fellow challengers Rivers United (8) and Remo Stars (9) .
Speaking on their good records at the back, Maikaba who is known for free flowing football said, he had to adapt his style to suit the players at his disposal.
“Anyone that know me very well ,will tell that I’m a coach that like attacking football, but when I got to Rangers and with the players I found ,I had to change my thinking and adapted to them .”
“I met very good defenders and I built around them and that’s why we have the best defensive records in the league .”
“In 18 games we conceded seven goals which is fantastic.”
“We are not scoring much ,but on our day we can score enough.” He said .
Maikaba will be aiming for the three points when Rangers will take on struggling Lobi Stars in their next game.
