Maikaba stunned by Rangers defeat against Relegation battling Abia Warriors

Rangers head Coach Abdu Maikaba has expressed disappointment with his side’s defeat to relegation threatened Abia Warriors on Sunday.

Rangers lost 2-0 to their rivals in the Oriental derby, despite dominating possession and chances creation.

Although they managed to hold on to their third position on the table, Maikaba wasn’t happy with the result.

“It is shocking to have lost this encounter. I expected a good result, the worst being a draw,” Maikaba said in his post-match presser.

“We began well, but lost concentration at some point in the game and our opponent capitalized on it to punish us. Despite the substitutions, we did not do well to come up with the needed push by my boys.”

Rangers still maintain the third place on the twenty team log with 51 points from 32 matches played with Remo Stars closely following on 4th spot with 50 points.

Kwara United are 5th on the standings with 49 points with Enyimba next on 6th spot with 48 points.

The ‘Flying Antelopes’ will next travel to Jos for a match day 33 fixture against Nasarawa United at their adopted home ground on Sunday, June 12.
