‘Make your chance count’ – Shorunmu advises Nigeria goalkeepers ahead of Sierra Leone showdown

Ike Shorunmu has advised that any goalkeeper given the opportunity to be within the sticks for Nigeria against Sierra Leone should seize the opportunity to justify their selection.

In a chat with www.brila.net, Shorunmu advised that the country now has plenty of goal powers and if anyone is opportuned to be within the sticks in any match, such an individual should give it their best shots.

“The good thing is that we have discovered a lot of goalkeepers recently and just one will be called upon to be in the goal post at a time. Whoever is selected shouldn’t disappoint himself and the country at large,” Shorunmu told brila.net.

Super Eagles will play Sierra Leone in a doubleheader AFCON qualifiers clash on the 13th of November 2020 and the goalkeepers called up for this clash are Chippa United’s Daniel Akpeyi, Switzerland based goalie Sebastián Osigwe, and Spatter Rotherham short stopper Maduka Okoye.

Shorunmu was a former first-choice goalkeeper of the national team, and played at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He was brought into the Nigerian national team by coach Clemens Westerhof in 1992.
