New Abia Warriors Boss, Henry Makinwa says he’s delighted to be back managing in the Nigeria professional football league again after his last job with ABS of Ilorin ended with a sack.
Makinwa who resumed his appointment with the Club on Monday put pen to paper for a year contract and has since taken the team to Port Harcourt for a training camp ahead of fast approaching 2018/2019 NPFL season.
“It is exciting to be returning to NPFL. It is an exciting moment but with high rigor and high preparations. I’m looking forward to the big league as you want to call it now.
“I met the players on Monday and the reception was fantastic and the feeling was very high because the boys were ready.
“There is always where to improve. We are going to camp now and that will be where things will be seen clearly. We are going to Port Harcourt and from there we will finally see where we have to beef up or where we have to manage.”
The former ABS football club of Ilorin gaffer admits his side has to win a trophy after establishing themselves among the big boys in Nigeria football.
“Of course this is a big team in Nigeria context. So every team should aspire for everything that is possible. So we are one of those aspiring for everything because Abia Warriors is not a newcomer to the league, we have to aspire to everything. The team must believe in themselves.
We have been on the lookout in the NPFL for the past 5-6 years, so I think it’s about time we go forward to win something,”
Abia Warriors will travel to Nasarawa United as they begin their adventure in the 2018/2019 Nigeria professional football league.
