Yesterday, Manchester United Captain and England ex-international, Michael Carrick confirmed he’d retire from professional football at the end of the current season.
The news didn’t come as a surprise to many considering his game time has reduced under the current manager and also his injury problems as of late.
In his words, “There comes a time when your body tells you to stop playing. That’s pretty much where I’m at.” The defensive midfielder will bow out of the game with shoulders high after a glittering United career that spanned 12 years.
Carrick will be best remembered for being one of the prominent members of the 2007-2008 United season when they won the famous UEFA Champions League against English rivals Chelsea at the Luzhniki stadium in Russia capital, Moscow.
