Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has reiterated his stance on allowing WAGs in the team and around players during the world cup, but says “Professional” masseuse are barred.
Rohr was fielding questions during a presser on Friday at the team’s camp in Uyo, where he also defended his selection of the 30 players invited in the preliminary list.
The Coach said, “We welcome the wives & girlfriends. But not ‘professionals’ who want to give special massage to players.”
He also expressed his regret over the reaction of a section of Nigerian fans over the 30-man provisional list, particularly with the debates over players left out.
“My real regret is that people talk about players not on the list than those on the list. This is not fair as we have many interesting players on that team as well.”
The Coach revealed he already has 20 names for the tournament but needs a little more time to decide on the three remaining spots.
“I have in my head, twenty out of the 23 players going to the World Cup. The other three, I have to watch them again and again.”
Rohr stated that five players will be dropped after the DR Congo friendly and two more after the team’s friendly against the Three Lions in London on June 2nd.
