Mbaoma and four players who scored against their former team in NPFL MD 16

Victor Mbaoma tops the list of the players who scored against their former team in the NPFL Matchday 16 fixtures across all centres.

The forward netted one of the goals as Enyimba ended their poor run of results at home with a 2-1 victory over his former Club Remo Stars.

The striker began his professional career with Remo Stars and he Captained the Sky Blues side to the NPFL for the first time in 2016.

He’s reagrded as one of the biggest export alongside, Super Eagles defender Olisa Ndah.

As a sign of respect, Mbaoma refused to celebrate his goal against Remo Stars — which happened to his fourth of the campaign.

“It was very emotional for me, first time in my career I scored and couldn’t celebrate, I scored against my parent club and felt like I stabbed my heart, because I felt so much pain instantly. I had no choice, it is my Job. ” He said after the game.

Nyima Nwagua :

The big forward scored the only goal of the as Rivers United defeated his former side Kano Pillars.

Nyima spent four successful years with the Sai Masu Gida and helped them win the Aiteo Cup for the first time in their history in 2018.

However, he swapped the Pyramid City Club for his state team at the end of the last season and he was able to scored a goal on his first return to Kaduna, where Kano Pillars are currently playing their home games.

Leonard Ugochukwu :

The striker scored twice as Sunshine Stars whitewashed his former side Heartland FC 3-1 in Ijebu Ode on Wednesday.

It was his 5th and 6th goal of the season for the Owena Whales.

 

The experience forward previously played for the Nazi Billionaires during the 19/20 season.

Kabiru Adeniyi :

Kabiru Adeniji of Niger Tornadoes was on target for Niger Tornadoes against his former Club MFM FC of Lagos.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw and it was Adeniji who netted a late equaliser to deny his former side what should have their first away win of the campaign.

Adeniji was one of the crowd favorites during his time with the Olukoya Boys and was. Adeniji spent two seasons with MFM FC and was the club’s top scorer in his time at the Club.

Ekene Awaziem:

Like Victor Mbaoma, Ekene Awaziem was developed by Remo Stars. He spent three seasons with them before leaving the Ikenne outfit in 2020.

However, he and Victor Mbaoma scored the goals that earned Enyimba 2-1 win over their former Club in Aba on Wednesday.

Samuel Stone set up Awaziem, who hit a first-time strike to double the lead for Enyimba.
