Mbaoma rescues a point for Remo Stars in 2-2 draw against Akwa United

It was a dramatic end to the NPFL match at the Gateway Stadium in Sagamu as home side, Remo Stars rallied in the closing moments to pick a point in the 2-2 draw against Akwa United.

Remo took the lead early in the through a Victor Mbaoma strike with the game just minutes old.

But, the visitors did not sit back and were rewarded with an equalizer in the 25th minute with a reassuring finish by Friday Ubong.

The second half commenced with the teams equally matched and pushing for a lead, but nothing will give until the 85th minute.

Musa Newman fired Coach, Abdul Maikaba’s men into the lead to complete the comeback and were looking good for the three points with only a couple of minutes to play.

With the clock counting down, nerves were frayed and tension mounted as Remo pushed to salvage a point.

The answer came in minute 88. Victor Mbaoma the rescuer and grabbing his brace on the day tucked home to end a pulsating contest in Sagamu.

However, Mbaoma’s chivalry did little to improve the Club’s position at the bottom of the table; as they remain rooted in 20th position on the log.

Meanwhile Akwa United maintained their push for a continental ticket as they held on to fourth position, tied on points with El kanemi Warriors who were peppered 4-0 by Enyimba on Wednesday.
