Meet the Certified Public Accountant Courtney Dike who recently got her first Falcons’ Hattrick

Born in Oklahoma to Nigerian parents, in her four years at Edmond North High School, she scored over 90 goals for the school team, she also played college soccer at Oklahoma State University while studying for an Accounting degree which she bagged about five months ago, she has continued scoring goals on and off the pitch including a hattrick in Friday’s Super Falcons friendly 6-1 win against Icelandic UMF Selfoss.

In the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada, she scored the fastest goal in the history of the competition after just 13 seconds in a match against North Korea which earned her three nominations at the 2014 Nigeria Sports Award, eventually, she won the discovery of the year award.

Courtney Dike rejected her bonus from the 2014 U-20 World Cup as acceptance of prize money is against NCAA regulations (the division 1 collegiate governing body) in the US, but that stop her from playing for Nigeria, she said “the experience is worth more than the pay as I’m delighted to play for Nigeria whenever called upon.”

Courtney went on to represent Nigeria at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada, she made history by becoming the first native Oklahoman to ever play in the World Cup after coming on as a substitute in the match against Australia.

In 2018, Courtney who was initially named in the 48-women list for the 2018 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nation, did not make the trip.

After getting her hattrick, Courtney Dike was celebrated on Twitter by her University Football team and her Coach
