After securing the win over Warri Wolves FC and first win of the 2020/21 NPFL season, MFM chief coach Tony Boulus said he’s happy to start the season on positive note.
Ebenezer Odeyemi gave the Olukoya boys the lead in the 7th minute, before Muyiwa Balogun doubled the lead 16 minutes later.
The seasiders however reduced the deficit four minutes later, through John Paul Chinedu, but the game failed to produce more goals in the second half.
Speaking to the media after the game, Boulus expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance in their season opener.
“It’s our plan, we came here to get a win and in the first 10 to 20 minutes we dominated and get what we wanted so I’m happy with the result, we move focus to next game.”
On the eventual return of the NPFL after the 9-month break due to Covid-19, the gaffer said he’s happy to be involved again.
“I’m very happy that the league is back, eight months is long time sitting at home and not doing anything.” He told the press.
The victory at the Agege stadium is MFM FC first league victory over Warri Wolves in five attempts.
They drew 2 and lost 2 of their previous four meetings against the seasiders.
