Mfon Udoh and Sunusi picks N4m Golden Boot award

Eunisell Ltd Friday rewarded  Akwa United striker Mfon Udoh and Nasarawa United forward Sunusi Ibrahim with 2 million Naira each after the duo emerged as the joint-highest goal scorers in the 2019 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

Udoh and Ibrahim, both scored 10 goals at recently concluded NPFL season and were presented with cheques of N2million each at the Eunisell Boot Awards 2019 ceremony held in Ikeja Lagos.

The players got N200,000 for each goal and were also presented with a golden boot and a trophy.

Eunisell’s group managing director, Chika Ikenga, explained that the motive of the award is to promote local football and make it enjoyable for spectators.

He said: “Football is entertaining, football brings us together in Nigeria. More than anything, football helps people in terms of being fit, it creates a job. It provides an opportunity for our young people to stay out of trouble. So we wanted to see how we can get involved, how we can help.

“We chose to reward the people in the front so that they can pull the other people. We would like to see in the next five years that our stadiums are as full as premier league stadiums. We are not going to do it alone, but we will do it with the rest of the society.”

Former Kano Pillars striker Junior Lokosa, won the maiden edition of Eunisell Boot after scoring 19 goals for Kano Pillars.

He also received a cash prize of N3,800,000.
