Mikel leads Middlesbrough to second consecutive victories

Middlesbrough secured hard a fought 1-0 victory over Hull City at the Riverside on Saturday, as they continue to chase a of playoffs spot.

The Tony Pulis side was captained by Nigeria midfielder John Mikel Obi as they made it two victories in a roll on Saturday.

Democratic Republic of Congo striker Britt Curtis Assombalonga scored the only goal of the game five minutes before half hour markand Mikel was at the right place at the right time, clearing off the line after a scramble from a corner late on in the second half.

Speaking after the game Mikel says he has enjoying the experience of leading the Teesside and helping them to record back to back winover Bolton Wanderers and Hull City.

 

”’It is always nice to be the captain, to lead the team,” Mikel told BBC’s Matty Nixon.

 

”Great team, great players, great lads too, so it is always nice, it is always positive. I am really honored to have captained the team in the last two games.

 

”Hopefully we can keep winning games, I think that is the most important thing.” He concluded.

 

Middlesbrough are seventh on the log with 64 points from 42 matches.
