Mikel: Stoke City belongs to the premier league

John Mikel Obi says he’s delighted to sign for English Championship side Stoke City.

Mikel returned to English football after signing a one year contract with the Michael O’Neil led Potters ahead of the coming season.

 

While speaking to the club’s official website, Mikel said he had offers from others, but decided to join Stoke City after his discussion with the coach.

 

“I have other options but after speaking with the manager, I believe this is the best place for me to continue my career.”

 

‘I still want to win, I still want to achieve great things, this club belongs to the premier league and hopefully, I can help gain promotion.”

 

The former Chelsea midfielder added that he wants to bring winning mentally into the team and help them gained promotion back to the premier league.

 

Mikel made more than 370 appearances for Chelsea, helping them to land the Premier League title twice, as well as three FA Cups, the Champions League, and Europa League.

 

The Nigerian international midfielder joins Morgan Fox, James Chester, and Steven Fletcher in checking in at the bet365 Stadium ahead of the 2020/21 Championship season.
