Moses Simon wins Coupe de France, Nantes end over Two decades Trophy drought

It was a great night for Moses Simon and his Nantes teammates as the Pays de la Loire Club finally ended the 21-year wait for a trophy in the final of the Coupe de France on Saturday night.

Simon who has been one of the key players for the Canaries since his arrival from Levante in 2019, followed up his player of the month award with another fantastic show against Nice inside the Magnificent Stade de France.

The Nigerian started the game and created several scoring opportunities – three key passes, five crosses and one shot on target – in his Seventy-three minutes on the pitch.

Ludovic Blas scored the only goal from the penalty spot two minutes into the second half after Hicham Boudaoui’s hand ball in the area.

It is the fourth time Nantes have won the French Cup and their first major trophy since winning the Ligue 1 title and Trophée des Champions in 2001.

Antoine Kombouaré’s side have also qualified for next season’s Europa League.
