Mourinho reacts to touchline spat after United’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea

Jose Mourinho has said that Maurizio Sarri’s assistant apologised to him straight after today’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea.

Antonio Rudiger headed a rebound from Luiz’s effort straight at David de Gea before substitute Ross Barkley fired home in the sixth minute of added time.

That cancelled out Anthony Martial’s two goals, which had put United ahead after they fell behind to a Rudiger header.

The equaliser though sparked ugly scenes in the dugout as Mourinho took exception to the celebrations from one of Sarri’s assistant coach Marco Ianni, with the aftermath spilling down the tunnel and onto the pitch.

Ianni sent Mourinho into a rage on the touchline, running up to him and punching the air in front of him before making a rapid escape.

“What happened with Sarri assistants I can tell you that Sarri came up to me and said he would resolve the problem internally with him. And after that his assistant came to me and apologised to me in Sarri’s office,” said Mourinho.

“If you really feel this way and want to apologise then I accept apologies and forget it because I also made mistake in my career so I’m not going to kill him because of that.

“Forget it, it’s over and he apologised and I accept it.”
