Mourinho’s AS Roma shutout Osimhen as Napoli lose grounds in title race

Victor Osimhen failed to impress in Napoli’s 1-1 draw against AS Roma at the Diego Maradona Stadium on Monday.

Osimhen has been criticized for his lack of goals against the big Serie A sides.

The 23-year-old indeed failed to produce a positive response and struggled through his time on the pitch.

He was isolated up front and had just two chances all through the game and failed to hit the target on both occasions.

The Forward was also lucky not to have scored an own goal in the second half when he accidentally flicked a Lorenzo Pellegrini free kick onto the crossbar.

Osimhen later sprung the offside trap on a ball over the top and shrugged off his marker only to hit the side-netting.

Napoli’s top scorer this season, so far, failed to add to his 12 league goal and was subbed off for Dries Mertens in the 82nd minute.

Lorenzo Insigne gave Napoli the lead at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, only for Stephan El Shaarawy to score a second half stoppage time leveler to earn AS Roma a point.

Failure to win means the Luciano Spalletti’s men are gradually losing ground in the Scudetto race.
