Rangers defender Calvin Bassey has described his maiden call up to the Super Eagles as dream come true.
Bassey is eligible to represent his country of birth Italy and also England where he was raised, but the Rangers full-back opted to represent Nigeria.
He is currently in the Super Eagles camp ahead of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic.
“It’s a dream come, that I’ll be in this position. I’m just excited to be here and want to carry on with the team.”
“All the players in training today show the quality they possess and this is why Nigeria is a big Nation.”
“I hope I can be here with the team for a long years’ time and achieve success,” Bassey told brila.net after Wednesday’s training session.
The 21-year-old will battle it out with Jamilu Collins of Paderborn for the left-back position when the Eagles take on the Raoul Savouy’s men on Thursday.
