Ndidi, Iheanacho enter Leicester City’s history book with FA Cup glory

Nigerian duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi are the latest Nigerians to win FA after helping Leicester Leicester City beat Chelsea in Saturday’s final at Wembley.


The duo started the match on a day Leicester City needed a hero to help put an end to their barren runs in the competition.


Iheanacho who came into the final as the highest-scoring African in the history of the competition was tamed by determined Chelsea defenders and was later replaced in the second half.


Wilfred Ndidi played the entire duration helped the team protect their lead after Belgian midfielder Youri Teilemans gave them the lead in the 63rd minute.


Leicester City has now won their first FA Cup final at the fifth attempt, becoming the 44th different side to win the competition.


Leicester are also the first first-time winners of the FA Cup since Wigan Athletic beat Manchester City in the 2013 final.


Meanwhile, Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi join the likes of Daniel Amokachi, Kanu Nwankwo, Celestine Babayaro, John Utaka, John Mikel, Victor Moses, and Alex Iwobi as the only Nigerians to have lifted the tournament.
