Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has dropped to the second spot in the EPL top tacklers’ race after being overtaken by Foxes teammate Ricardo Pereira.
Ndidi previously led with 85 tackles while Pereira was second with 83 tackles prior to weekend games but the Portuguese have now moved to 90 tackles ahead of the Nigerian following Leicester’s shock 1-2 home loss to Southampton.
Ndidi had undergone a successful operation on his meniscus last Thursday and his absence has been greatly felt by Leicester who were held to a 1-1 draw in their Carabao Cup semifinal first leg tie against Aston Villa last Wednesday.
The Nigerian star who has two goals in 20 EPL appearances so far in the ongoing season is now recovering and is expected to return to action within four to six weeks according to coach Brendan Rodgers.
Ndidi however, still leads others in most interceptions with 55. Second-placed Diego Rico is still on 51 while Jan Bednarek who previously had 44 has moved to 46 in the third position.
