The Nigeria Football Federation has announced the appointment of Jose Peseiro as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.
Peseiro’s appointment is with immediate effect, subject to the signing of agreed terms between the parties, an NFF statement issued, Sunday, read.
The 62 year-old Portuguese will replace Gernot Rohr, who was fired in November 2021, as substantial Coach of the three times African Champions.
In his younger days, Peseiro played as a striker and after a career spanning 15 years, he went in Management.
Subsequently, He has worked across National teams and Club football across four different continents, including Europe, Africa and South America.
An educationist with a degree in physical education/sports sciences, Peseiro has top-level coaching qualifications/training, and has coached at Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto, Al-Ahly Cairo and Real Madrid (assistant coach during the Galacticos era), as well as serving as Head Coach of the Saudi Arabian and Venezuelan National Teams.
Peseiro agreed a two-year contract with the Nigeria FA and he’s expected to lead the Super Eagles out for the first time during the upcoming tour of the United States of America.
