President of the Nigerian football federation Amaju Melvin Pinnick has denied the reports surrounding the future of Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.
Earlier reports in the Nigerian media says the Franco-German tactician has been shown the way out of his job but the NFF has come out to debunk the reports.
In a statement credited to the NFF leadership, the board of the NFF seems to be studying a report from the technical committee which was submitted after the Group phase of the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
“The Board of the NFF is studying the report of the Technical Committee, which it submitted after the match against Cape Verde in Lagos on Tuesday. There are a number of possibilities but we have not taken a decision to sack Gernot Rohr. I want to assure you that whatever decision is eventually taken will be one that will please the generality of Nigerians.
The 68-year-old led the three-time African champions to a third-place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations as well as qualification for the World Cup in Russia a year earlier.
He also managed the side in 54 games, winning 28 and losing 13 times, with another 13 games drawn.
