NFF, Sport Ministry reach pact on Next Super Eagles Coach

NFF, Sport Ministry reach pact on Next Super Eagles Coach

Fresh interviews will commence soon for a shortlist of Coaches who have applied for the Super Eagles job, Brila.net has gathered.

The Super Eagles coaching role became vacant in November 2021, following the dismissal of Franco-German tactician Gernot Rohr.

Although the NFF appointed its Technical Director, Austin Eguavoen, to the position for three months on interim bases, failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup forced the former Nigeria CB to step down from the role.

However, with the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers approaching, the NFF is under huge pressure to appoint a permanent technical adviser for the team and sources in the FA say the process for shortlisting Coaches will get under way in the next few days.

This was also confirmed in the FA’s communique after another round of meeting with the Sports Ministry.

“Meeting between Sports Ministry and NFF went very well, both bodies agreeing to work together in the interest of Nigerian football.

“Thereafter NFF will meet with the Ministry to reach a final decision on the matter.

“Key Performance Indicators, (KPIs)are to be fully worked out and put in place before a new national coach is hired.” The communique stated.
