Technical director Austin Eguaveon stated that the Nigeria Football Federation’s technical committee have no right to query Gernot Rohr over his choice of players.
Eguaveon who is the head of NFF Technical Committee revealed, Gernot Rohr is solely behind Ighalo’s return to the Super Eagles squad, after three years of absence.
Ighalo who retired from international duty in 2019, was listed among the 24 players for the upcoming FIFA of World Cup qualifiers.
“Ighalo’s name appeared on the list sent to us and that means Gernot Rohr wants him, and since he takes credit for the team’s success or otherwise, we okayed it because we don’t have the right to query his list,” the former Eagles coach told journalists in Abuja.
The Super Eagles will engage Liberia in Morocco on Saturday 13th , and the return to Lagos to wrap up the qualifiers against Cape Verde for days later.
Speaking ahead of both games, The team must entertain Nigerians and get the needed results at the same time.
“How the team plays matters, we shall be concerned when the team is not entertaining. Result and entertainment matters, so we have to merge the two together, but it matters how the team plays.” he concluded.
