NFF won’t take Al-Shabab to FIFA over Ighalo

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) won’t reports Al-Shabab of Saudi Arabia to FIFA over the failure to release Odion Ighalo for the African Cup of Nations.

The Saudi Arabian Professional League Outfits confirmed to the Nigeria Football Federation this morning that, they won’t be releasing the striker for the tournament, despite FIFA’s fierce stance club preventing players to honor calls from their country.

Ighalo was expected lead the Super Eagles attack, in the absence of injured Victor Osimhen of Napoli.

However, in a chat with Brila FM, NFF Director of Communication, Ademola Olajire confirmed the striker is out of the tournament, but the Nigerian Football Governing Body won’t be reporting Al-Shabab to FIFA for failing to release him.

“Al Shabab has confirmed that they won’t be releasing Ighalo for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

“However, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will not go to that level of reporting Ighalo’s club to FIFA because you won’t be helping the player.

“This was the same player that was invited for the 2022 World Cup qualifier against Liberia in Morocco and he was released.”
