Team Nigeria player Segun Toriola has expressed shock at Nigeria’s 3-1 defeat to Slovakia in yesterday’s Second Division, third group stage game at the world team Table Tennis championship.
Only Aruna Quadri won his game (3-0) in the match up as both Toriola (0-3, 0-3) and Omotayo Olajide were defeated (2-3).
The defeat was Nigeria’s first against the European side; having dominated them in past editions of the tournament.
Speaking with Brila.net after Tuesday’s loss, Toriola assured the team will not lose focus of their objective.
He said the target remains to go past the quarter-finals and admits Slovakia were a setback, but only minor as they have the chance to redeem in Sweden.
Current third in Group F, Nigeria’s next face Bulgaria on Wednesday.
