Nigeria is a big miss in Qatar — Blatter

Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter is not happy with Super Eagles’ absence from the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Eagles failed to qualify for the Mundial for the first time since 2006, losing to Black Stars of Ghana in the playoff.

The Super Eagles have good records at the World Cup, reaching round of 16 on four occasions and remains the only African team to have topped a World Cup group, and along with Morocco.

Speaking to Nigerian journalist, Osasu Obayiuwana, Blatter, said he’s disappointed Nigeria did not make it to Qatar.

“I have to tell you that I am very disappointed that the Super Eagles are not at the Qatar 2022 World Cup,” Blatter said.

“How can a big country like Nigeria not be in Qatar? It is a very big absence. I am not happy at all about this.” He said.

Blatter enjoyed good relationship with Nigeria and Africa during his reign as FIFA President.

With him, Nigeria hosted the U20 and U17, FIFA World Cup, while South Africa got the hosting right for 2010 FIFA World Cup.
