The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed that Winger Alex Iwobi has tested negative for Covid-19.
Iwobi was ruled out of Nigeria’s AFCON 2021 qualifying match against Benin Republic at the weekend after mandatory test result returned positive for the virus.
Super Eagles Manager, Gernot Rohr had cast doubts over the authenticity of Iwobi’s positive status.
Per Colin Udoh [ESPN] Gernot Rohr has told me that although @Everton’s Alex Iwobi tested positive for COVID on arrival in Benin, he believes the result is “fake”. A 2nd test has been taken and result due soon. Rohr tells me he’s confident Iwobi will play on Tuesday

However, it is unclear whether the Winger will be available for selection on matchday against Lesotho.
Nigeria has qualified for the 2022 AFCON to be hosted by Cameroon. The team plays its final AFCON qualifying match on Tuesday against Lesotho.
