Nigeria vs Sierra Leone: Rohr expects difficult match from Leone Stars

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr says he’s expecting Sierra Leone to give his team a difficult match on Friday.

Rohr will lead his wards out against the Leone Stars at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Friday in the race for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations tickets.

Nigeria currently lead Group L with six points after two victories over Benin Republic and Lesotho, while Sierra Leone is languishing below the table.

The Manager however believes the visitors will give his boys a tough match because they already have their back against the wall and they are motivated to turn the corner.

“We are expecting a tough match because our opponent, Sierra Leone have quality players too. It will not be an easy game because they have professional players,”Rohr told the media after Tuesday’s training session.

“My work is to first explain to the players that this will not be an easy game. We cannot underrate this Sierra Leone team.”

Sixteen players trained on Tuesday after Chidozie Awaziem, Kelechi Iheanacho and Emmanuel Dennis joined the camp, but Rohr said he expects the other players to join up with the squad soon.

“We have 16 players today, three goalkeepers and were expecting more. It’s not easy to travel across Europe because we have a lot of restrictions. Not many flights are coming to Nigeria at the moment. Some of the players have to travel through Ethiopia down to Lagos.

“The last players we are expecting in camp is Shehu Abdullahi who got a late invitation for this game on Sunday,” the Coach explained.
