Nigeria were Lucky against Zimbabwe – Nakamba

Marvelous Nakamba shared his thoughts on Zimbabwe’s 1-1 draw against Nigeria in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match held at Huye Stadium in Rwanda on Sunday.

Despite taking an early lead with Walter Musona’s long range free-kick in the 26th minute, Zimbabwe couldn’t secure the win.

Key players such as Teenage Hadebe, Tanaka Shandirwa, and Divine Lunga missed clear-cut chances to secure a win for the Warriors, before Kelechi Iheanacho, leveled the score at the 67th minute with a well-executed left-footed strike.

“We tried our best as a team, it went well on what we wanted to do and we got so many chances to finish the game. Unfortunately it didn’t happen but we just have to keep on going and believe in ourselves.

The DM said, the team has to turn its attention to the next fixtures.

“We are looking forward to the next match. We just have to stick together to encourage each other with the support that we are having from the fans, from everyone from Zimbabwe here. We like to say thank you very much, we keep on going.

“We have to make it as a team and we just have to push each other more and demand from each other more, it will happen.

“I was impressed with everyone who was in the camp, whether playing locally or abroad. The unity was there, everyone was supporting each other, every one was encouraging each other.”
